Troy Perkins received his M.F.A. from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. After working for several years in indie film, advertising, music videos and concert video animation design, Perkins wrote and directed four short films, Tractor For Sale, Brothers, Birthday Girl and Billfold. These films were showcased in many national film festivals and have won numerous awards including the Cine Golden Eagle and Gold and Silver Remi Awards. He also works as a cinematographer and has filmed numerous narrative, documentary, and promotional films and videos. Shifting his focus to screenwriting, he wrote the feature film script Solomon’s Train, which won the First Place Emerging Artist Award from the 2013 Filmmakers International Scriptwriting competition, First Place Award in the 2012 University Film and Video Association Faculty Scriptwriting competition and was a semi-finalist in the 2010 Austin Film Festival Screenplay competition. Solomon’s Trainis currently in development with a prominent Los Angeles production company. Perkins expanded his writing into series development with Outpost, a World War II drama based on real events. Outpostplaced in the top 15 percent of the 2016 Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition, won the First Place Award in the TV & Web Pilot category of the 2016 UFVA Faculty Scriptwriting Competition and won an Award of Excellence at the 2018 Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts. Additionally, he developed the short film screenplay, Crossing, which won the Best of Festival Award at the 2018 BEA Festival of Media Arts, placing it in the top 1 percent of all screenplays submitted. Perkins recently finished the first draft of his new feature film screenplay, The High Road, which he plans to direct in 2020.
