SMU Institute for Young Pianists is an intensive, performance-based experience for pre-collegiate piano students. The Institute includes private lessons, master classes, and a variety of group experiences exploring keyboard skills, music theory and history, and ensemble. Advanced students study with SMU piano faculty including Carol Leone, Al Mouledous, Dr. Alex McDonald, David Karp, Cathy Lysinger, Kevin Gunter, and guest faculty Logan Skelton (Professor of Piano, University of Michigan). Faculty also includes many current and graduated faculty in the Piano Preparatory Department at SMU.

Three levels of study: Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced.

Audition required for all levels.

Students ages 12 and older are strongly encouraged to stay overnight.

Applications due May 1, 2015.


Elementary & Intermediate: $475
Advanced: $550
Room and board (ages 12 and up): $350

Registration for the 2015 SMU IYP and the 2015 Young Artist Competition has now closed. No additional students can be accepted this year.
