Adjunct Associate Professor of Music Education
Nora Henson is an adjunct lecturer in the music education department at SMU Meadows School of the Arts. She teaches the Fundamentals of Choral Conducting course to undergraduate voice performance, vocal music education and vocal music therapy students.
Henson has been a music educator for 37 years and has been the conductor of the Youth Chorus of Greater Dallas since its inception in 2004. She is an active clinician, consultant and adjudicator for music teachers, conductors and singers throughout the U.S.
Henson earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Arts in choral conducting from Sam Houston State University under Dr. B. R. Henson. She has served as guest conductor for Orpheus Chamber Singers (Dallas), Schola Cantorum of Texas (Fort Worth) and Aria Chamber Chorus (Coppell, Texas).
Henson received the Choral Excellence Award from the Texas Choral Directors Association in 2013.
