Shane Murphy, 22, is from the Niagara Region of Ontario, Canada and began studying the organ at the age of 11. After two years of piano study, Shane began studying the organ with Dr. Christiaan Teeuwsen at Redeemer University College in Ancaster, ON. While studying with Dr. Teeuwsen, he also travelled to the United States for several summer organ programs (Pipe Organ Encounters), gathering experience and influence from renowned faculty members. In 2011, he spent three months living just outside of Düsseldorf, Germany; at which point he studied early organ music with the Dutch organist and pedagogue, Egbert Schoenmaker. In October 2015, Shane completed his Bachelor of Music degree in Organ Performance at McGill University where he studied alongside John Grew and Hans-Ola Ericsson. He is currently enrolled in the Master of Music program at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where he studies with esteemed German organist Stefan Engels.
