Elif Kavakci is a fashion designer and fashion theorist. She is the creative director of the modest wear label KAVAKCI COUTURE. Kavakci designs for an exclusive clientele consisting of career women, women in politics, public personalities, and diplomats. In her designs she combines elegance and modesty. Her designs are worn by influential women around the world.
Kavakci is a creative consultant for fashion brands in the United States and Turkey. She has lectured and presented papers around the globe and has been featured in international media outlets such as BBC World.
Kavakci is a columnist for the Turkish fashion and lifestyle blog Yesiltopuklar.com, a blog with over 200,000 daily reads. She is a regular contributor to Daily Sabah newspaper (online and in print).
She is pursuing her Ph.D. in aesthetic studies with a concentration in fashion and media studies at The University of Texas at Dallas. Her research interests include emerging media and communication, viral media, fashion and social media, fashion and technology, digital culture, identity politics, and faith and fashion.
