Kelly Kocinski Trager is an arts and entertainment attorney who has run her own practice since 2010. She specializes in intellectual property, nonprofit law, negotiations, contracts and business formation for creative individuals and entities. Prior to running her own firm, Trager was a staff attorney and development director at Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts in New York City. In addition to teaching at SMU, Trager is a professor at Pratt Institute in New York, in the Design Management and Arts and Cultural Management departments. She has also taught at University of Texas at Arlington and New York Film Academy, and has given talks for the SAG Foundation, Loyola University, Women in Digital, and many other organizations. A professional dancer prior to becoming an attorney, Trager understands both creative and legal perspectives. Since moving to Texas, she has reviewed grants for the Texas Commission on the Arts, been appointed to the Southlake Arts Council and writes reviews for Southlake Arts magazine. Trager is the current vice president of Women in Film Dallas.
