Students in the M.A./M.B.A. and M.M.in International Arts Management programs will find a deep well of information and help in Melissa Keene, associate director for the Division of Arts Management and Arts Entrepreneurship (AMAE). Keene has worked for SMU in various capacities since 1993. She has experience in enrollment and housing, and for 15 years served as assistant director for business affairs for SMU Meadows’ largest academic area, the Division of Music. She joined the AMAE staff in November 2015. Keene holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master’s of Liberal Arts/Literature and History from SMU.
In her capacity as associate director, Keene focuses on helping graduate and undergraduate domestic and international students with their many questions and is often the first point of contact for prospective and new students interested in AMAE. “Helping people with their education feels good,” she says. “I enjoy helping our international students navigate and understand our country and our campus, and assisting the undergrads when they want to declare a minor in arts management or arts entrepreneurship.”
In her free time, she and her husband enjoy renovating their home, doing the work themselves.
