Marketing and Communications Coordinator
Mary Guthrie began her communications career working for radio stations in Carbondale, Illinois, while earning a B.S. in Radio-TV at Southern Illinois University. Since then she has worked in public relations, marketing, strategic planning and promotion. Past positions have included VP of strategic communications for accredited history museum Dallas Heritage Village, public relations director for Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA-TV and managing editor for Dallas Child magazine. Mary has also worked producing laser light shows for Projected Imagery, Inc., and has edited a fine art photography book for auction house Heritage Auction Galleries. She was a founding board member of the Cedars Neighborhood Association in Dallas. In her free time, she enjoys playing guitar and writing songs, having served on the Dallas Songwriters Association board for two terms and having played in a rock back for 10 years. She is a founding member of the writers group Dark and Stormy Night Writers, and is pursuing a master of liberal studies in creative writing at SMU Simmons School of Education and Human Development.
Mary joined the staff of Meadows School of the Arts in 2011. She writes and edits content for the school website, MPRINT magazine and promotional materials, and presents information sessions to undergraduate prospective students and their families.
