The Hart Center specializes in connecting prospective employers to qualified job candidates for a variety of employment needs: co-ops, internships, as well as part- and full-time positions. We streamline the recruitment process by providing unique networking opportunities, hosting recruitment events, and holding professional development workshops, where working professionals can volunteer to lend their expertise and actively recruit. The Hart Center also offers more exclusive, customized corporate recruitment events based on employers' needs. We can help companies host and promote corporate events at SMU or reserve meeting rooms for on-campus interviews. Employers can depend on the Hart Center and SMU-Lyle for hiring skilled, polished, and motivated engineering talent.
We offer the following events based on your recruitment needs and timelines:
Engineering Connections Career Fair
Open to both undergrad and grad students, this engineering-only event is a career fair held twice a year, in the fall (September) and spring (February). Engineering students are invited to meet employers recruiting for engineering and technical positions (co-ops, internships, and full-time employment opportunities). More than 400 engineering students attend this event each term.
Employer Info Tables/Grab & Go
Employers visiting campus for a specific time and day are highlighted during this “grab & go” event. Flyers and emails are sent ahead of time to alert students to bring their resumes and drop by between classes.
Employer Info Sessions
Held twice a year, in the fall (September ─ early November) and in the spring (late January ─ mid-March), employers present an overview of their company and their engineering career opportunities. Typically, most companies bring alumni to speak about their experience as new hires.
Employer Email Blasts
Email communications are designed to promote corporate recruitment events and are sent to Lyle students in targeted engineering majors and classifications.
Career Prep Events
Employers are invited to career prep events and professional development workshops, such as Engineering Mock Interview Day, Engineering Resumania, Interview Prep 101, Engineering Connections Career Fair, and She Networks, She Wins.
The Hart Center can partner with companies to create special events based on a company’s vision for recruiting Lyle students.
