Held annually, Visioneering is one of the largest events in the nation celebrating National Engineers Week. The event targets middle school students from a wide range of communities in the DFW area and exposes them to the world of possibilities available to them in the field of engineering by exposing them to mentors, hands-on activities, and interactive exhibits - all related to engineering.
The event brings together students, engineers, entrepreneurs, and national figures from industries and businesses and captures the attention and imagination of young students through presentations and group work to solve real-world problems. For many students, it provides their first exposure to engineering and the opportunity to experience the excitement of careers in science and engineering, while providing a learning opportunity in a fun, hands-on environment.
But it can't happen without volunteer engineers like you!
Many of these students have never met an engineer and have no idea about the rewards offered by a career in an engineering field. It is a great way to make a difference in the life of a young student.
As a volunteer Team Mentor and Judge, you will:
- Mentor a team of 7-10 students and their teacher through the conceptual design process.
- Assist students in developing a short oral presentation of their ideas to the judges.
- Serve as a mentor to the students and talk about your engineering experiences.
- Judge other team's designs based on how well the design fits the competition's criteria.
This year Visioneering will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022, and mentor registration will be open on this page soon.
