Applying Through the Global Education Institute

The long-standing strategic partnership between the Lyle School of Engineering of Southern Methodist University and the Global Education Institute (GEI) provides admission processing services for international students. These services include the following:

  • Pre-Master Program (PMP), which is available to all international students. As a matriculation pathway program, PMP offers international students intensive Academic English courses, as well as courses from the Lyle School of Engineering for the students to become familiar with the education at Lyle School of Engineering. It accepts students based on existing admission standards. This program makes it possible for international students who do not currently have a standardized test (e.g., TOEFL, GRE) scores to have the opportunity to demonstrate their academic abilities required to be successful in Lyle School of Engineering’s graduate programs.
  • Assistance to international students in direct admission applications. GEI’s qualified and knowledgeable staff is most experienced in helping students who need more information on the Lyle School of Engineering’s master’s degree programs that they have academic interests in.
  • Processing international students’ tuition payments. Tuition payment processing through the GEI is free of charge, so the tuition amount stays the same as listed on the Lyle School of Engineering website. This service provides great convenience for international students.
