SMU librarians provide ready-made instructional resources that can be easily incorporated into your course, or you can request customized instructional materials from your librarian.
Research Guides
Research guides connect students to disciplinary resources and offer practical advice for accomplishing research. Guides are automatically connected to Canvas courses.
Canvas Modules
SMU Libraries creates information literacy modules that can be imported into your Canvas course. The modules:
- Are designed specifically for SMU students
- Address general and disciplinary foundational concepts and skills
- Include outside readings, quizzes, and suggestions for further learning
- Work well for introducing new ideas before librarian-led instruction or as review
Module topics include finding information, reading a scholarly article, and knowing when and how to cite. To see all SMU Libraries modules, go to the Canvas Commons and search for “Southern Methodist University Libraries.”
Learn how to import modules into your Canvas course. Modules are updated periodically. At the beginning of each semester, make sure to check the Commons and import the most recent version of any modules you've used in your courses.
Students can access selected modules on their Canvas dashboard.
