Find Journals & Newspapers

Discover Journals and Newspapers in our Libraries

SMU Libraries has journals and newspapers in print, online, and on microfilm.

Use Journal Search within Library Search to look up journals and newspapers by title. You may need to look at multiple records for different date ranges. Journals and newspaper titles can change over time, so look for the section "Related titles" in the record. Learn more about finding journals.

Browse newspaper titles and contemporary and historical newspaper databases on the Newspapers research guide. Learn more about finding magazines and journals on the Magazines and Popular Journals research guide.

Locate Journals and Newspapers

For journals and newspapers in print or on microfilm, find the library and shelf location in the Library Search record under “Get It.” Journals are usually arranged alphabetically. Pay attention to the years listed in the record to ensure it is for the year you need.

Some journals and newspapers are only available to use in the library and can’t be checked out. The record will note that it is “limited access” or “non-circulating”. You may need to ask at the holding library’s desk. Special Collections often require an appointment to see materials.
