Don Shelly, Finance Professor of Practice, will be leading one-hour sessions designed to take you deeper into using the Bloomberg terminal, as well as FactSet, Cap IQ, and NetAdvantage, to enhance your finance decisions. 

All sessions will occur in the Business Library (Kitt Investing and Trading Center), temporarily located on the lower level of the Hamon Arts Library.

Need a refresher before then? The Business Library’s Bloomberg Basics and FactSet Fundamentals workshops will teach you basic navigation skills and how to get the most out of these business resources.

Access to Business Newspapers

Current students, faculty, and staff can sign up for free subscriptions to The Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Barron’s (click on more… before clicking on the database title for important steps to register), and The New York Times! These journals are valuable sources of information and will be referenced in your classes throughout your time at Cox.  These news sources also have excellent mobile apps so, once you are registered, be sure to download their apps to your mobile device.

If you would rather access business journals and other news sources without signing up, you can always go to the Business Library’s Factiva database, then click on the Home tab at the top.  There you will find Factiva’s Newsstand.  Also, SMU Libraries’ Newspapers Research Guide will help you access even more journals available to the SMU community.
