Collection Materials

SMU's Horton Foote papers, 1838-2011, comprises approximately 276 linear feet of material documenting the career of the Academy Award winning screenwriter and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright. The collection includes manuscripts, scrapbooks, handwritten drafts of screenplays, diaries, letters, photographs, and family memorabilia of the Wharton, Texas, native who spent over 60 years in film, stage, and television.

The digital collection contains a variety of images and photographs of Horton Foote, his family, and his career. Also available online is a digitized file of the kinescope, A Young Lady of Property. Some images are only available on campus at SMU due to copyright restraints.
