CGHI hosted SMU’s 2016 Honorary Doctorate degree recipient – Dr. Groesbeck Parham . The World Affairs Council of Dallas-Fort Worth and the Center co-hosted a Symposium to highlight creating impact in global health using simple, innovative solutions.
In addition to Dr. Parham, the panelists included Celina Schocken, CEO of the public private partnership Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon, Dr. Suku Nair, Chair, Department of Computer Science and Engineering (SMU), Dr. Eric G. Bing, Professor of Global Health and Director of Center of Global Health Impact (SMU) and Dr. Seema Yasmin, Professor of Public Health (University of Texas at Dallas) and journalist with the Dallas Morning News.
Moderated by The Honorable Jim Falk, CEO of the World Affairs of Dallas-Fort Worth, the panel helped bridge the gap between research, medicine, academics and media. The session focused on the impact of the world on the health of Dallas; bringing to light that global health issues in Dallas are not global or domestic in nature but health issues that affect us all.
