Instructions for Students

Students Receiving National Fellowship, Departmental, and University Awards

Please report to the box office inside the lobby of McFarlin Auditorium between 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to receive an index card listing your award. If you are receiving multiple awards, all will be printed on this card. It is imperative that you do not lose this card. After picking up the card, please go to your assigned seat in the auditorium as indicated on your card. Ushers and staff will be there to assist you in locating your seat. You must be in your seat by 5:15 p.m.

During the ceremony, you will be led to the stage by a Chief Marshal Cooley. As you approach the stage, you will hand your index card to the lector who will read your name. You will then receive congratulations and a small gift from Provost Loboa, President Turner and your school’s dean/director. Off stage, you will be given a lapel pin and certificate to commemorate the occasion.

Awardees who cannot attend can pick up their mementos from the University Registrar's Office starting Wednesday, April 14.

Honor Society Inductees and University Honors Program Members

Please tune into the ceremony by 5:30 p.m. to join the ceremony virtually at smu.edu/live. You will be acknowledged during the ceremony. Starting Wednesday, April 14, you can pick up your memento to commemorate this special occasion from the University Registrar's Office.
