Appointments may be scheduled during clinic hours. After a brief telephone consultation regarding your needs, an intake appointment will be scheduled. Intake appointments can generally be scheduled within 1-2 weeks, depending on clinician availability. Appointments for assessments may take longer, depending on clinician availability.
The Psychology Clinic operates year-round, with some brief intermittent closures based on SMU’s academic calendar and university closures. Your clinician will inform regarding closures and plan sessions accordingly.
As a training clinic, we are able to offer services at an affordable rate. Therapy services are offered on a sliding scale range from $10-$60 per hour based on income and the number of people in the home. Psychological and psychoeducational assessment services are provided at a flat rate fee of $500. We work with patients individually to determine needs-based cost of service.
We are unable to accept insurance of any kind for payment of services. Unfortunately, most insurance companies do not reimburse for services provided by trainees. However, you are encouraged to contact your insurance company regarding their policies. Should you learn that your insurance will cover services, we will provide you with the appropriate paperwork for you to seek reimbursement for services. If you will be seeking reimbursement from your insurance company, you will not be eligible for reduced fees.
Currently we are able to accept cash or check for payment of services. Payment is generally expected at the time services are given.
