Though I was born in Chicago, Illinois, and have lived in a variety of places within Arizona, Colorado, Texas and even Germany, I consider the El Paso, Texas/Juárez area to be my home.
Borderlands, Mexican-American identity, Mexican Revolution, the literature, music and philosophy of Mexico, boxing and overall sports history.
As a second year doctoral student, Roberto is interested in the role that sports play in the development of national identity—specifically with boxing and Mexico. Other academic interests include the role of Juárez and El Paso in the Mexican Revolution and Mexican-American history.
