About
Emily is a first year grad student studying U.S. history, specializing in the blend between American religion and medicine in the 18th and 19th centuries. Specifically, she focuses on how medicine was practiced in the early Republic and how it changed over time following the Second Great Awakening. Her research aims to depict how religious influence on American society altered what practices were deemed acceptable by focusing on media and political rhetoric. Additional interests include political history, history of the body, and intellectual history.
