About

I work with depictions of the fat, disabled, and/or queer body in late 20th and 21st century African American, Chicanx, Asian American, and Native American literatures. In particular, I am interested in how certain bodies are framed as out of control and how this framing articulates the boundaries and contingencies of consent, power, citizenship, and belonging. I recently wrote a piece for Conceptions Review titled “’Eat a Salad, Sweetie’: What Few Know About Diet and Weight,” which examines popular misconceptions about fatness fueled by the American “obesity epidemic.” The article is available for reading here.
