The Latino Leadership Initiative is a national center of excellence established in 2013 that assists participating companies in recruiting, developing, and retaining high-performance Latino executives who will drive business growth and create a sustainable competitive advantage for their companies.
While the Latino population in the United States has exploded from 35 million to more than 55 million since 2000 - now constituting 17 percent of the population - Latinos are still vastly under-represented in the boardrooms of corporate America. According to a survey by Heidrick & Struggles, out of 399 director positions appointed by Fortune 500 companies in 2015, four percent were Latinos. In order to address this pressing need to reconfigure and diversify the executive talent pool, the Latino Leadership Initiative focuses on four interlinked areas:
- Leadership Development for high-potential Latino managers
- Organizational Development to build multicultural competence
- Exclusive business insights through Latino-focused Research
- Community Engagement in schools and communities
