Student Clubs

The Cox Graduate Programs offer a number of clubs and organizations through which you can refine your leadership skills. As an elected official on the Student Advisory Board, for example, you can help shape the school’s future programs by serving as the liaison between the student body and the faculty and administration. As a participant in the Ambassador Program, you can play an external-facing sales role for the school - whether touring prospective students around campus or representing the school at a local open house. Or as a member of the Cox MBA Diversity Association, you can promote greater diversity at the school by implementing programs and hosting events.

Black Graduate Student Association
  The Cox School of Business Black Graduate Student Association is a diverse network of students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community business partners with a membership that is open to students across all of the Cox Graduate Business Programs. Throughout the year the BGSA hosts networking, professional development and social events. The BGSA has a primary purpose of increasing awareness and facilitating access to professional development and career opportunities for all members.
 

Consulting & Corporate Strategy Club

 

To fulfill the expectations of members of the club, to provide networking opportunities and to provide information on what consulting is all about.

   

Cox Christian Fellowship

 

The Cox Fellowship is a non-denominational Christian organization open to all Cox MBAs. Our purpose is to foster a sense of Christian community and support through prayer, fellowship and outreach to create a life-long network of Christian business professionals.

Latino Business Club  

The Latino Business Club is a diverse network of students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community business partners with a membership that is open to students across all of the Cox Business Programs. The primary goal of the Cox LBC is to increase networking opportunities among Cox students and the surrounding business community, as well as to increase awareness and facilitate access to professional development and career opportunities for all members.

The Cox LBC hosts networking, professional development and social events throughout the year on and off campus.

Cask & Barrel Club
 

The Cox Wine Club is an educational and social origination focused on increasing students’ knowledge, respect, and enthusiasm for wine, spirits & craft beers in both their professional and personal lives. The club will be an educational and networking resource for students including formal tastings, education, and networking events alongside industry professionals from all areas of Dallas’s professional business community. 

Energy Club

 

The Cox Energy Club is a student run, cross-concentration organization focused on educating and preparing current graduate students for careers in the Energy Industry (E&P, Power, Marketing, Banking, and Integrated Producers). This done primarily through engaging our Advisory Board of industry professionals in addition to our vast network of industry contacts. Our aim is to create both jobs and internships and to make SMU Cox the premier source of informed and educated MBA talent for the Energy Industry.

Entrepreneurship Club

 

The SMU Cox Graduate Entrepreneurship Club hosts distinguished speakers, networking events, entrepreneurial workshops, and the largest Business Plan Competition at SMU where students from all backgrounds (business, engineering, law) compete for over $50,000.00 in cash and in-kind donations to turn an idea into a REAL business!

Golf Club  

The SMU MBA Golf Club is a great way to cultivate new and existing relationships over a round of golf. While playing 18 holes is our main focus, we also offer opportunities to take lessons, buy exclusive MBA golf club merchandise, or just get out to the range and practice.

International Business Club

 

The International Business Club aims to enhance the professional, cultural and social experience of the international Cox MBA Student. Specifically the club aims to:

  • Increase exposure of international Cox MBA students to prospective employers.
  • Promote and build relationships with companies that are open to sponsoring international Cox MBA students for employment.
  • Act as a platform for expressing ideas and voicing concerns for the international Cox MBA student.
  • Promote cultural and social understanding among peers, faculty, staff and the community.

To this end, the club dedicates itself to the sponsorship of business related events, cultural gatherings, and educational forums.

Cox Graduate Finance Association 

 

The Cox Graduate Finance Association educates and creates opportunities, both networking and job oriented, for students interested in investment-related careers and/or corporate finance. Students will learn more about many potential career paths including investment banking, private equity, venture capital, hedge fund, investment management, FP&A, corporate development, corporate strategy, corporate/commercial banking, and restructuring/turnaround.

The Finance Association achieves this goal through speaker events, current events meetings, local firm visits, networking and happy hour events, speaker panels and forums, volunteer activities, and organizing or hosting events and competitions on campus.

Jewish Business Club  

Whether seeking improved access to business contacts within a Jewish context, career advancement or simply to learn from some of the most successful Jewish entrepreneurs in the world, the JBC business program is there for you.

Marketing Club  

The Cox Marketing Club is a community of young professionals who share a strong interest in Marketing across a diverse range of fields such as brand management, consumer insights, healthcare, retail, and consulting. The Cox Marketing Club provides its members with the tools and resources needed to enhance interview and networking skills.      

Net Impact   Net Impact is a community of more than 50,000 student and professional leaders creating positive social and environmental change in the workplace and the world (netimpact.org). We promote a triple bottom line as part of business: people, profit and planet. We promote collaboration between business, institutions, non-profits and individuals to advance strategic solutions to global, societal problems.

Cox Net Impact events include the annual, national Net Impact Conference, panel events with area corporate leaders in CSR as speakers, happy hours, and higher level volunteering opportunities.

Operations & Analytics Club 

 

To provide a forum for networking opportunities, and educate members about career opportunities in technology and operations. Analytics is the new buzz word that every company is using today. We want to teach our members how to utilize data to make important strategic decisions through tangible, analytical skills that will strengthen each member once they return to the professional world. It is our goal to connect students with faculty, alumni, and other professionals in a variety of forums to communicate why analytics is important to SMU students and future business leaders.

Real Estate Club  

The SMU Cox Graduate Real Estate Club is an organization for students who are interested in entering the diverse and exciting industry of commercial real estate. Whether you have no previous real estate experience or knowledge, or you are looking for a full-time opportunity after graduation, the SMU Real Estate Club is for you. Careers in real estate are driven by relationships. We strive to provide our members valuable knowledge, connections, and professional opportunities in the commercial real estate world.

Cox Rugby Club  

We invite anyone of all skill levels to participate, compete, and learn one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Our cub seeks to engage its members in competitive rugby contests throughout the year as well as leverage the sport’s culture to foster professional networking and career development opportunities.

Strategic Alliance
  This club brings LGBTQ and Straight Allies together to ensure SMU Cox is a supportive educational institution. You don’t have to be LGBT or Q to be involved, we ask only that you come with an attitude of tolerance and acceptance and advocate for those who need a voice.

The group budgets and allocates student funds across all clubs and events in a manner that benefits the entire Cox community. Finally, the SAB undertakes several initiatives a year for the benefit of all MBA students

Veterans in Business  

We are an association of veteran students and supporters of the veteran community, committed to assisting each other in the transition from the military into a successful career in the private sector. Furthermore, we believe in giving back to SMU’s Cox School of Business and continuing to honor those who serve by assisting local veteran programs.

Women in Business  

The Cox School of Business Women in Business Chapter of the Graduate Women in Business Organization strives to be a support network of friendships and resources for women within the Cox MBA Program.
