The SMU Web Design Certificate Program consists of over 100 hours of website design education, completed over 9 months, in both an online and in-class environment.
As of June 1, 2013, the SMU Web Design Certificate program is offered in a cohort format. A cohort is structured so that a maximum of 15 students progress through the program together. Courses build upon one another with assignments and lessons, allowing you to hone your design skills in between class sessions. The certificate program culminates in the unique online Capstone Course, in which you'll create your final, portfolio-bound web design project, with the guidance of your instructor. The certificate program takes approximately 9 months to complete and includes over 100 hours of hands-on, useful graphic design education.

Certificate program students will be working on a real-world website design project inside and outside of the classroom. To complete this work effectively, you must bring a personal laptop computer (with the Adobe Creative Suite 6 software installed) to all classroom sessions. Hi-speed internet access is required for all online class sessions. SMU offers an academic discount on the Adobe CS6 software - please contact an advisor for more information on this discount offer.

All course textbooks and materials are included in the price of the course. After enrolling, you can pick up your Introduction to Web Design textbook from the CAPE office prior to the start of the online class. For all other classes, textbooks will be distributed to students during the first class session.
