Instructors for the graphic design program were chosen through a rigorous process to ensure that they are both masters of their craft and effective at teaching complex technical topics with clarity and sometimes even humor!

Below are short biographies of several current graphic design program instructors. As with any educational program, our instructor roster may change from semester to semester. You can always contact us to find out who is teaching a particular course.

Instructor: Kim Bauer, BA, MFA

For more than twelve years, Kim Bauer has worked as a webmaster and website designer. Kim's development credits include Nationwide, American Airlines, Discover, GTE, Nortel, Avon, Herbalife, Blockbuster, Bell Atlantic, Texas Tourism, Cox and Qwest. As an instructor she has taught at Texas A&M Commerce and Collin College.

Kim's degrees include a BA from University of Texas, Austin in Art and a MFA from the Pratt Institute in Computer Graphics. She has had her work shown at Siggraph and has won several Silver Quill awards.

Instructor: Sean Fraser

Sean Fraser created his first website in 1998. In 1999, Sean began professional Front-End web development as word-of-mouth referrals spread; his clients were could be found in the film and music industries, and Los Angeles area businesses as well as occasional global-based companies: it has continued to this day. In 2003, Sean discovered Web Standards with its accompanying Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) use. Sean, by then, had an eCommerce bookstore and a website offering organic Search Optimization services. In early 2005, Sean created his own blog and tutorial website site extolling the virtues of Web Standards, Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) 4.01, CSS, Accessibility, and organic Search Optimization. He was previously a contributor to the Web Hypertext Application Technology (WHAT) Working Group (who at the time were writing what was to become HTML5) and a World Wide Web Consortium (W3C ) HTML5 Invited Expert. He is currently a member of the W3C Schema Bib Extend Community Group.

His background primarily includes Literature, Fine Art, and Graphic Design. His current website features literary works and typography examples.

Instructor: Alyssa Galganov

Alyssa is an Adobe enthusiast with a strong desire to learn the latest in graphic design techniques. She brings over 15 years experience in advertising, publishing and interactive design. Currently, she is working on various projects with a UX design team at Sabre.  She spent 10 creative years at The Dallas Morning News working in their advertising agency and has consulted on special projects at Freeman, American Airlines and RTKL. Other interests include photography, travel and spending time with husband, Richard.

Instructor: A.J. Wood, ACP, ACI

As the President of Media Cats, Inc., A.J. Wood has been ranked the #1 Adobe Certified Instructor worldwide more than once. In 2009, he was selected to join the ranks of recognized Adobe Community Professionals (formerly known as Adobe Community Experts).

A.J. is best known for his straightforward teaching style, and ability to communicate ideas in the simplest of terms. A.J. actively serves the creative community by posting weekly video tutorials on YouTube, delivering seminars on Adobe products, presenting for Adobe user groups, and creating content for,,, & One Man's Blog."

Instructor: Stacy Wewe

Stacy Wewe is an experienced visual communication designer with twenty years of experience in print and advertising—covering a wide range of projects including strategic marketing, brand identity, magazine design, packaging (CPG)  and web design. She has a bachelors in broadcasting and graphic design from Washburn University and a Masters in Advertising from Kansas University. Stacy currently freelances and teaches advertising and design classes at the Art Institute of Fort Worth and SMU. 

Instructor: Mary Zimnik

For more than two decades, Mary Zimnik has worked in creative communications as a designer, writer, educator and photographer; in public relations, brand development and marketing; and as a filming industry expert. For more than ten years, she's been lead teaching in graphic and Web design in multiple certificate programs at Emory University's Continuing Education in Atlanta.

Prior to founding Studio-MZ in 1999, Mary managed creative services in higher education for Agnes Scott College and was a location agent representing universities for filming projects, including feature films such as “Scream 2” and a wide variety of documentary, television and commercials projects. In addition to creating hundreds of printed pieces for clients in education and corporate and commercial sectors, Mary has judged national design contests, taught design in national conferences and taught English as a Second Language to students from all over the world.
