05/29/2012:  Mustang Express temporary route changes
  • As a result of the closure of Airline Road, effective Tuesday, May 29th the Mustang Express route will be temporarily altered as indicated on the map below.
  • Riders who normally use the affected bus stop located on Airline Road should instead use one of the bus stop located on Bishop Blvd. while Airline Road is closed. 
  • The Mustang Express will attempt to operate as normally scheduled.  However, riders should expect unavoidable schedule disruptions and delays to occur on occasion due to traffic conditions and construction related activities.  The Mustang Express will resume its normal route once Airline Road reopens in December. 
  • Please contact the Parking and ID Card Services Office at Parking@SMU.edu or 214-768-7275 for additional information or assistance.

8/8/11: Pho Is For Lovers Now Accepts Pony
7/18/11:  Pony Outage Beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, July 21
  • Off-campus merchants will not be able to accept Pony transactions for at least 4 hours beginning at 7 a.m. and potentially lasting up to the full day, on Thursday, July 21 because of system maintenance.
  • We apologize for any inconvenience this unavoidable service disruption may cause.
6/7/11:  Peyton Parkway Closed Monday, June 13
  • Weather permitting, Peyton Parkway next to the Memorial Health Center will be closed for asphalt repairs Monday, June 13 and is expected to be completed that day.

  • Vehicles normally parked in this area must be removed from Peyton Parkway by 7 a.m. on Monday.
  • Parking relocation is available on levels 3, 4, and 5 of the Binkley garage, in the Moody garage or in the SMU section of the Meadows garage.
6/6/11:  Ordering Parking Permits
  • On Park 'N Pony's homepage, click on "My Parking Account", enter your SMU ID information, click on the "Order Permits" link and follow the outlined steps.
  • Be sure to have your license plate number and vehicle information including make, model, color and year readily available.
  • After following the steps, print the order confirmation and display on the dashboard of your vehicle, as this will serve as your temporary permit.
  • The temporary permit is valid in the red "All University Permit" (AUP) surface areas indicated on the campus parking map for two weeks. Garage access is not active until you receive your SMU parking permit.
5/25/11:  Demolition
  • Those who have been parking in the eastern portion of the Dedman Center lot are urged to use the all-University parking sections of the Binkley Garage (levels 3, 4 & 5), the Moody Garage or the SMU section of the Meadows garage.
  • The western portion of Dedman lot will be available for parking through December 1 and you must have a valid SMU parking sticker displayed on your vehicle to use these areas.
  • Parking in the Park Cities Plaza is for customers and tenants only. All others will be towed.
5/18/11: Summer Parking
  • Summer parking enforcement is currently in effect until August 15, 2011.
  • Students with valid SMU parking permits may park in any All University Permit (AUP), Resident or Student areas.
  • Employee lots with assigned parking, remain parking by assignment only and the appropriate permit is required during summer.
5/9/11:
  • Kudos to Jan Anderson for an outstanding CTV 1304 final project documentary about the Park 'N Pony's Giddy Up service. We're happy to hear such great feedback about Giddy Up! Be sure to check out Jan's video on YouTube.
  • Also, please note that due to an ID system upgrade, our office will be unable to make new ID’s or issue replacement SMU ID cards between May 24 and May 27. Please visit our office in Expressway Towers on Tuesday, May 31 and we will be happy to help you.
5/6/11: Dalai Lama at SMU
  • On Monday and Tuesday, McFarlin Boulevard (between Hillcrest and Boaz Lane) and Boaz Lane (between McFarlin and University Boulevard) will be closed to through traffic between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • The parking spaces in A Lot behind McFarlin Auditorium and the parking spaces along McFarlin Boulevard on the north side of the Umphrey-Lee Center will not be available during this time and vehicles that normally park in these locations may park in the Law garage on Daniel Avenue.

  • On Tuesday, Ownby Drive between Schlegel Street and the unnamed street between the Meadows Museum and McElvaney Hall will be closed to through traffic between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. 
  • Motorists who normally parking in the surface parking lot behind the Meadows Museum may park in the SMU section of the Meadows Garage, the Dedman Lot, or levels 3, 4 and 5 of the Binkley Garage.
4/21/11: SMU Boulevard Closed
  • Due to construction activities, the eastbound lane of SMU Boulevard between Airline Road and Dublin Street will be closed from Monday, April 25, to May 13. This will not include that section of SMU Boulevard between Airline and the Binkley Garage entrance. The westbound lane of SMU Boulevard between Airline and Dublin will remain open.
  • The sidewalk also will be closed in the construction area.
  • In addition, vehicular traffic may occasionally be restricted at the Potomac-Airline intersection. A construction flagman will be present at such times to assist motorists.

4/14/11: Traffic Congestion for Centennial Celebration
  • If you do not find parking in the lot or garage where you normally park, please park in the DART Station Lot or the East Campus Lot and take the shuttle to the main campus. The East Campus Lot is on SMU Boulevard between Greenville Avenue and North Central Expressway. The shuttle will run from 7 a.m. to 9:40 p.m. Friday. It will run approximately every 15 minutes until 6 p.m. and every 20 minutes thereafter.
  • In addition, Bishop Boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic for the Relay for Life 2011 event from 4 p.m. Friday until 5:30 a.m. Saturday. The Mustang Express shuttles will be rerouted during this time to Dyer Street and will stop in front of the Hughes-Trigg Student Center on Dyer instead of on Bishop. Riders who normally catch the Mustang Express shuttles at the stops located on Bishop should use the temporary Mustang Express stop on Dyer Street in front of the Hughes-Trigg Student Center after 4 p.m. Friday.
3/30/11: McFarlin Boulevard Construction
  • The City of University Park will begin construction work on McFarlin Boulevard between Airline Road and North Central Expressway on Monday, April 4. Work is expected to be completed by April 7. Vehicles left on McFarlin during the construction period will be towed.
3/22/11: University Park Requiring Residential Parking Permit
  • The Daily Campus published an article about University Park's new parking ordinance.
2/15/11: Temporary Traffic Flow Changes for Hyer Lane area
  • Traffic flow on McFarlin Boulevard (between Hughes-Trigg and Fondren Library) will be changed from one way west bound to one way east bound. 
  • Robert S. Hyer Lane will be changed from one way north bound to one way south bound.
  • Barricades will be installed just east of the entrance to the Dedman Life Sciences Parking Lot (so the lot can remain open) and on University Boulevard at Airline Drive. University will be closed to all traffic between the barricades. Only construction vehicles will be allowed in the area.
  • In addition, pedestrians cannot use the east entrance between Fondren Library and the Science Information Center during construction.
  • Extension of the Northeast Quad Pedestrian Mall from the southeast corner of Dedman Life Sciences Building to the southeast corner of Fondren Library is expected to be completed in August.

1/20/11: Airline Parking Garage Elevators and Lighting
  • The elevators and lighting in the Airline Parking Garage will be shut off from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, January 21, for electrical maintenance. This will not affect access to the garage and authorized vehicles may continue to park there during this time.
1/14/11: Extended Hours January 17 & 18 at the Park 'N Pony Office
  • Though we will be closed Monday, Jan. 17 in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., our office will be holding extended office hours on Tuesday, Jan. 18 and Wednesday, Jan. 19 until 6:30 p.m. Stop by to pick up your DART Transit pass or your spring 2011 parking permit.
1/5/11: New Mustang Express Route Information
  • Due to ongoing construction, SMU Blvd. between 75 and Dublin Street is expected to remain closed until August 2011. As a result, the Mustang Express route has been temporarily altered as indicated on this Google map. While the Mustang Express will operate as normally scheduled, riders should expect occasional and unavoidable schedule disruptions and delays due to traffic and construction related activities. The Mustang Express will resume its normal route when SMU Blvd. reopens. The University apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
1/4/11: Spring Parking Permit Information
  • If a 2010-2011 annual parking permit was ordered in the fall, there is no need to order a permit again as the permit is valid until August 1, 2011. However if the permit was lost or there is a change in its status, please stop by the Park 'N Pony Office.
  • To order a spring 2011 permit:
    • Please note that you will need to to be registered for Spring 2011 coursework in order to purchase a Spring 2011 permit. Spring 2011 permits are available for order 24 hours after students are registered for Spring 2011 classes.
    • Login to My Parking Account select “Order Permits” and follow the steps outlined on the site.
    • Students should print the "Order Confirmation" at the end of the permit order process to use as a temporary permit valid for up to 2 weeks from order date. Your order confirmation is valid in all surface All University Permit (AUP) areas.
    • Orders take approximately two business days to process. A confirmation email will be sent to your SMU email address to let you know that your Spring 2011 permit order has been processed.
    • Your permit will be ready for pick up in the Park ‘N Pony Office after January 10. 
    • Please be sure to bring your SMU ID card to pick up your permit so that our office can activate garage access.
  • The Park 'N Pony Office will have extended hours: January 18 and January 19 until 6:30 p.m.
