The Constitution

The Constitution for The United Methodist Church with Enabling Legislation and Other Historic Documents, 1967.

In 1966 the General Conferences of The Methodist Church and The EUB Church adopted a Plan of Union. Implementation of the plan required the affirmation of two thirds of the constituent Annual Conferences. A sufficient number of conferences voted their approval in 1967, thereby authorizing a Uniting Conference to occur in Dallas in the spring of 1968. This booklet contains several essential documents establishing The United Methodist Church: its constitution, doctrinal statements, general rules, social principles, and enabling legislation.
