Favorite thing about SMU: The faculty. As an SMU graduate (Centennial Class of 2015), I had the honor and privilege to be taught by some of the best and brightest in their fields. SMU faculty do more than teach you; they mentor you and push you to become the best version of yourself (both professionally and personally) beyond what you had ever imagined your first day on the Hilltop.

Favorite restaurant near campus: Bubba’s “Cook’s Country”! Some of the best comfort food you will ever eat away from your own table. I love the rolls and mashed potatoes, but you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. Bubba’s family restaurant has Texas country roots and over 40 years in the community (and even has a drive thru).

Favorite place on campus: The SMU bookstore. As a student, I loved getting school apparel and accessories to show my Mustang spirit. It always motivated and excited me to see the alumni merchandise and the graduation regalia around the store. I still love to go and grab something new each season to add to my school spirit collection!

Favorite place in Dallas: The Texas State Fair (end of September–mid-November). It is so fun to go and taste all the different foods and grab a selfie in front of Big Tex. Corny dogs, Mexican fried firecrackers and fresh caramel apples are just a few of my favorites! Some of the food options get pretty wild, but there is definitely something for everyone. Just walking around and seeing everyone from different communities coming together and enjoying a Texas staple is something my family and I enjoy every year.

What I recommend during your stay in Dallas: I love to walk around NorthPark Center. Not only is it a curated art space, it is amazing for shopping or just browsing. There is also a cute family-friendly space where everyone can enjoy watching ducks and turtles frolic around. You can catch a movie to relax or just grab some food from Eataly or one of the many other food spots!
