Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission
Year I joined the Office of Admission: 2012
Favorite thing about SMU: I love the Innovation Gym in the basement of Caruth Hall. I’m a nerd at heart (Mythbusters, anyone?) and seeing all of the cool inventions and hearing about the collaborative efforts of the students makes me wish that I was an undergrad again! Not only is this a great opportunity to help organizations across the world, it also provides hands-on experiences for SMU students that you cannot find on any other campus.
Favorite place on campus: Moody Coliseum, where I can cheer on the SMU Mustangs men’s basketball team coached by Larry Brown. “Moody Magic” is very real, and we’ll turn you into a believer if you haven’t seen it live in action yet.
Favorite place in Dallas: Definitely the GeO-Deck at Reunion Tower (the “Big Golf Ball” in the skyline of Dallas)—what a view!
Favorite restaurant near campus: Twisted Root Burger Company serves these amazingly creative combinations of meat, cheese, bread, and toppings that are completely worth the exhausting workout that you’ll need to have to burn off the extra calories. For my fellow food junkies out there, the restaurant was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives hosted by Guy Fieri! My favorites are The Verde and The Western.
What I recommend during your stay in Dallas: Check out Trinity Groves at the base of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge if you have the chance. Part of this project includes the Restaurant Concept Incubator program, which gives young entrepreneurs, chefs, and restauranteurs the opportunity to bring their dreams to reality.
