It didn't take long for this small town girl to find herself at SMU.
Carving out your own identity in college life can seem like a daunting task, and Katie Perkins wasn't sure what to expect.
She quickly discovered that SMU is not only the perfect size, but also has a welcoming, friendly atmosphere.
"I come from a small town, and at SMU, there are lots of different opportunities to get involved, so I felt right at home when I first came here," she says.
"The other thing that's really great about SMU's size is that your classes are never too big," Katie says, "and when I walk around campus, I love that I always see people that I know."
As a Rotunda Award and Methodist Scholarship recipient, Katie has put her smarts to good use, taking advantage of SMU's career development center to find internship opportunities and career direction, as well as additional financial aid resources.
"Everyone has been really helpful," Katie says of the Hegi Family Career Development Center. "I use the career center to look over my resume and help me with applications for scholarships."
