About the Second Century Celebration

SMU is currently in the midst of The Second Century Celebration, a five-year period commemorating the centennials of the University’s founding in 2011 and its opening in 2015.

At the same time, SMU has entered a unique period of national visibility through the accomplishments of its students and faculty, record applications for admission from across the country and the University’s selection as home to the George W. Bush Presidential Center.

Today, the SMU community has a historic opportunity to highlight the University’s achievements and its growing international prominence in leadership, innovation, creativity and service.

The Second Century Celebration is designed to leverage this historic period to expand SMU’s contributions to the region, nation and world. This celebration highlights achievements and contributions made by our students, faculty and alumni that have defined SMU today -- a top-tier institution based in Dallas and making an impact around the world.

The celebration includes special publications, exhibitions and symposia, and provides the SMU community, including alumni around the world, opportunities to reconnect to the University through unique experiences on campus and online.
