Requirements for the M.A. degree
- 30 semester hours of course work, including 12
semester hours in the four common courses in Religious
Studies:
- Philosophical Study of Religion

Approaches to Asian Religions

History, Theory, and Method in Religious Studies

Contemporary Approaches to the Study of Religion
- Proficiency examination in a foreign language

Thesis
- Oral examination covering thesis and entire
course of study
Requirements for the Ph.D. degree
- 48 semester hours of course work, including 12
semester hours in the four common courses in Religious
Studies
- Philosophical Study of Religion

Approaches to Asian Religions

History, Theory, and Method in Religious Studies

Contemporary Approaches to the Study of Religion
- Proficiency examination in two foreign languages
Biblical Studies students must take exams in Hebrew and Greek as well.
- Four comprehensive field examinations
- One-semester practice teaching
- Dissertation
