What is the
Emerging Church?
The Emerging
Church is a decentralized movement that has developed out of the
desire of some Christians to practice their faith outside of
traditional ecclesiastical institutions. Often seen developing
as a network of home groups, it seeks to provide people the
freedom to explore their faith in the safe environment of close
knit communities. Usually these communities are theologically
grounded in the traditional Christian doctrines. The Emerging
Church embraces the postmodern culture, seeing it as the ideal
incubator for an inquisitive and creative Christian faith.
