Activities of
the Center
Craven Wilson
Lecture Series
The Center works in conjunction with
Perkins School of Theology to bring in nationally-known speakers
in the Field of Evangelism. These speakers can range from
established scholars in the field to leaders in evangelistic
movements. Attendance is open to anyone who is interested, with
a nominal fee charged to cover costs.
The lectures frequently are held in a
workshop setting to encourage participation and reflection by
attendees. The most recent workshop, held November 2007, was
entitled "Conversations with Brian
McLaren (What does emerging have to do with the rest of the
church?)."
The Church in Emerging Culture
This program is an annual gathering for
theological reflection and missional discernment concerning how
the church can best position itself to engage in evangelism
within its ever-changing cultural milieu. The program features
nationally-known speakers who are experts and leaders in the
Emerging Church. Attendance is open to all who are interested. A
fee is charged.
This program is intentionally organized as
a "conversation" with the featured speaker. As such, in addition
to a keynote address, it will often include a panel discussion
and will always offer significant opportunity for attendees to
interact with the speaker.
The 2007 event was held in tandem with
the Craven Wilson Lecture Series featuring Brian McLaren in
Conversations with Brian McLaren.
Bible Studies
Periodically a
Perkins student or faculty member engaged in the Field of Evangelism
will hold a Bible Study at the seminary. These Bible Studies
focus on the practices and models of evangelism seen in Biblical
texts. Attendance is open and free.
