A popular location for Dallas weddings,
Perkins Chapel is the site for approximately 200 weddings
each year. About one-third of those who get married in the
chapel are SMU students or alumni. The rest are members of
the local community. Couples of all faiths have been married
in the chapel since it opened in 1951, and some families
have had several generations marry there. Two attributes
which make it particularly attractive are its proximity to
many reception sites and its central aisle.
Four time slots are available each
Saturday: 9:00 am-noon, noon-3:00 pm, 3:00-6:00 pm, and
6:00-9:00 pm. Rehearsals for the weddings are held Friday
evenings from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
The cost of a wedding in Perkins Chapel is
$1,800.00, which includes an organist, a public safety
officer to direct parking, and a light and sound technician.
Couples provide their own chaplain.
Handicap Access:
There are three entrances to the building—the north side,
south side, and the main entrance on the east. Wheelchair access
is available on the north side of the chapel via a ramp.
