Bernard Shaw

An internationally known icon of television reporting, Bernard Shaw has been
awarded countless honors for his contributions to journalism. His news coverage
took him to 46 countries on five continents before he retired in 2001 to
spend more time with his family. A fixture on CNN since its 1980 inception,
Shaw devoted nearly four decades to reporting the news. Formerly CNN's principal
Washington, D.C., anchor, Shaw's regular assignments included

Politics,
CNN Worldview and
CNN & Time. A major name in broadcast journalism, he
was elected a Fellow of Sigma Delta Chi, the Society of Professional Journalists,
the highest distinction given to journalists for public service. He has also
personally contributed nearly $300,000 to the Bernard Shaw Endowment Fund
at his alma mater, the University of Illinois, to support qualified students
in need of financial assistance.
