From Gold to Gambling: Native Americans of the Southwest

This course explores the changing lifeways of the indigenous peoples of the American Southwest. Ethnographic accounts as well as materials written/interpreted by Southwestern Native Americans will be presented through reading assignments, class lectures, videos, movies, and classroom discussions.

Textbook: Native Peoples of the Southwest by Trudy Griffin-Pierce

NOTE: CF courses taken during reduced Taos summer semesters require completion of course assignments prior to arrival. Faculty members will e-mail students with assignments prior to the beginning of the semester. This course fulfills the General Education co-requirement in Human Diversity.
