Plant Biology
An introduction to the world of plants; a study of their evolutionary relationships, adaptations and field identification. The student will spend approximately four hours each day in the field, with trips by vehicle and on foot to the varied habitats of the Taos region, as well as lectures and laboratory sessions.

BIOLOGY 3343 - Field Botany; Identification of vascular plants with emphasis on ecological indicators and field collections.

BIOLOGY 3347 - Systematic Botany; an introduction to the history, nomenclature, family characteristics, identification and biosystematics of flowering plants including herbarium management techniques.

BIOLOGY 5358 - Ecology of Parasitism; The biotic and abiotic factors influencing parasite communities. Collection of field data on parasites of rodents. Measurement of biotic and abiotic factors under field conditions.

BIOLOGY 5359 - Host-Parasite Relations; Analysis of host-parasite relations from an evolutionary and ecological viewpoint. Trapping and collection of rodents from several different habitats on the Ft. Burgwin campus and analysis of their parasites.
