Summer School Financial Aid for Undergraduate Students

Current SMU undergraduate students receiving merit or need-based financial aid during the regular academic year are now eligible to receive institutional financial aid for two (one for transfer students) summer terms. These summer terms of institutional financial aid are in addition to the eight (five for transfer students) regular academic year semesters. Summer institutional financial aid may be used for on-campus study, SMU Summer Study Abroad programs, or SMU-in-Taos if you are enrolled in at least 6 semester hours and not more than 12 semester hours during the combined summer terms. A student must be enrolled at SMU during the academic year immediately preceding or immediately following the summer for which aid is requested.

SMU students who received need-based financial aid during the academic year are eligible to apply for need-based financial aid for summer school studies. Students applying for need-based aid must have filed their aid applications (FASFA and Profile) for the academic year preceding summer enrollment.

A 0% interest rate SMU Summer Studies Loan for up to $5,000 during the summer term enrollment will also be available for students who qualify.

SMU merit scholarships for which you are eligible during the fall and spring terms are prorated for summer studies.
