
Current Adventures
- Alternative Spring Break, Taos (Spring 2008) Students participating in the Alternative Spring Break trip to Taos, N.M., are partnering with Taos Habitat for Humanity to help build a home.
- Amy, SMU-in-Oaxaca (Winter Break 2007) Amy spent winter break 2007-08 in Oaxaca, Mexico, where she and other SMU students explored culture, art and anthropology - visiting villages, churches and museums; participating in festivals; and working alongside the indigenous people of Oaxaca.
- Anthony (Spring 2008), a senior marketing major from Garland, is participating in an Honors Marketing Practicum Course in charge of promoting SMU's annual Red-Blue Spring Football Game on April 5.
- Ben in China (Spring 2008) Ben is a junior from Dallas majoring in history, with minors in Chinese and business, who is spending Spring 2008 in Beijing at the Capital University of Economics and Business.
- Ben, Meadows Opera (Spring 2008) Ben, a first-year graduate student pursuing a Master's of music in vocal performance, is performing February 8 and 10, 2008, in Liebe, L'amour, L'amore . . .Tell me the Truth about Love!, an opera gala presented by the Meadows Symphony Orchestra and Meadows Opera Theatre.
- Christy, Dallas art conference (Spring 2008) Christy is a junior majoring in art history, with minors in classical studies and archaeology. This spring she attended College Art Association, a conference that unites a creative community of artists, art historians, art educators, critics, curators and museum professionals.
- Emily, Dallas art conference. (Spring 2008) Senior art history major Emily attended the College Art Association's conference in Dallas. The conference brought together art historians, artists and scholars from across the country.
- Elisabeth, SMU-in-Paris. (Summer 2008) Elisabeth is a sophomore majoring in journalism from Denver who is participating in SMU-in-Paris this summer. She's looking forward to learning art history inside The Louvre and traveling to the Loire Valley.
- Erica, Mane Event. (Spring 2008) Erica, a sophomore advertising major, is getting ready for Mane Event, a campus-wide carnival in celebration of the end of classes that takes place on April 25, 2008.
- Laura, Human Rights Pilgrimage (Spring 2008) Laura is a sophomore journalism major with minors in art history, photography and human rights. She is participating in the Spring Break Human Rights Pilgrimage to the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany.
- Nicole (Spring 2008) is a senior majoring in international studies and Spanish from The Woodlands. She's spending Spring 2008 in Paris studying French and art, and is looking forward to experiencing France before she graduates.
- SMU Geological Sciences, Antarctica (Winter 2007) Geological Sciences master's student Chris Strganac, doctoral student Yosuke Nishida and Professor Louis Jacobs are part of a team traveling to Antarctica to discover 120 million-year-old mammal fossils from Livingston Island and other places around the Antarctic Peninsula.
- SMU Outdoor Adventures SMU Outdoor Adventures offers recreational trips and outdoor skills workshops from its “base camp” at the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports.
