STUDENT FOUNDATION

Student Foundation History

Begun in 1973, Student Foundation was formed an organization in which students could come together in support of SMU.  First with the annual fundraising event, Telefund, and later introducing Parents’ Weekend (Family Weekend), the Manata Festival which today is known as Mane Event, Student Foundation quickly became the campus’s largest programming body.  As the Administration saw the strengths of the organization, greater responsibilities such as Homecoming, University Ambassadors, Celebration of Lights and the Tate Lecture Series were added to Student Foundation’s repertoire of activities.  Today, 31 years after its creation, Student Foundation remains a core in upholding the traditions of the past with the dynamics of the future.
