SMU’s academic environment is built on the interaction between outstanding students and inspiring professors who are leaders in their fields. Similar to the recruitment of exceptional students, competition for the most accomplished and creative faculty is intense.
With our supporters’ help, SMU has invested in recruiting and retaining distinguished faculty, providing resources for research and creative achievement, and developing programs that foster teaching excellence. These efforts have enabled the University to establish endowed faculty positions in areas that reflect society’s newest challenges, while strengthening our core academic disciplines. To ensure the continuing quality of SMU’s faculty, we must increase investments in faculty resources, innovation and enrichment.
