Fire Safety

The Fire Safety Branch of  S.M.U.'s Office of Risk Management (O.R.M.) Department administers the fire prevention and life safety inspection programs. This includes training of employees in fire prevention techniques, inspection and testing of systems to insure that they are operating properly (in some situations, this many be contracted out to a fire inspection service), and the investigation of fire situations to insure non-reoccurrence.

O.R.M. is involved in all new building construction and renovations to ensure compliance with applicable state, local, and national fire and life safety standards and computability with campus fire safety program, and recommend standards and policies to reduce vulnerability to fires.
