1. Commencement Tickets - Guests

Parents and guests of graduation candidates and graduates do not need a ticket to attend the Saturday morning Commencement Ceremony in Moody Coliseum.

Doors open at 8:00 a.m. Guests are encouraged to be seated by 9:15 a.m.  When taking your seat, please do not leave empty seats between your group and others or within your group.  It is recommended that infants and young children not be brought to the Commencement, as it is a lengthy, formal ceremony.

Guests with disabilities may park on Binkley Avenue between Airline Road and Dublin.  Parking passes for the disabled will be available in the Office of the University Registrar, Laura Lee Blanton Student Services Building.  Show the disabled parking pass to the officer on duty.  Persons with disabilities or unable to climb stairs should use the northeast entrance to Moody Coliseum at the ramp.  Ushers will be available to escort you to the proper area.

2. Commencement Tickets - Candidates

All candidates must have a procession pass in order to participate in the Saturday morning Commencement Convocation.  Procession passes will be distributed at the Registrar’s Office Service Counter in the Laura Lee Blanton Building from May 5 through May 15.  Procession passes must be picked up in person by the student.  If a student cannot pick up their procession pass, the Registrar’s Office will mail the pass if a written request is submitted to graduation@smu.edu by May 5th. The written request must include the student ID number, preferred mailing address, and degree information.

3. Baccalaureate Service Tickets - Guests

Guest tickets are required for admittance to the Baccalaureate Service for undergraduate degree candidates in McFarlin Auditorium on Friday evening.  All undergraduate candidates are entitled to three tickets for their guests. Tickets are not required for the simulcast of the Baccalaureate Service in the Theater of Hughes-Trigg Student Center.

Requests for guest tickets must be made by the graduation candidates in person.  The tickets will also be distributed only to those students unless otherwise authorized, and they will be distributed when the candidate picks up his or her procession pass from the Registrar’s Office Service Counter from May 5 through May 15.

Doors to McFarlin Auditorium will open at 7:00 p.m.  Early arrival is advised.  These seats will only be held until 7:30 p.m.  All guests need to be in their seats by 7:30 p.m.  Guests unable to be seated in McFarlin Auditorium will be directed to the Theater, Hughes-Trigg Student Center where the Baccalaureate Service will be simulcast.
