The Mustang Cheerleaders are comprised of a small co-ed team that cheer at football games and men's and women's basketball games. They also travel to all bowl games, tournament play and compete at NCA Collegiate Nationals.

A $1000 Scholarship is awarded to all full time members of the team.

Required Skills:

Standing Tumbling: Standing Back Tuck ,

Running Tumbling : Round off, back handspring, back tuck

Optional standing tumbling: Jumps to a back, two to a full, standing full

Stunting: Two separate stunts, showing twisting dismounts (Double downs recommended) and Elite skills (rewinds, full ups, etc.) may show baskets

Jumping: 3 jumps

Tryouts will be held April 18-20, 2008

Tryout process:

Friday April 18: Check in from 6-7 Clinic from 7pm -9pm during this time you will be able to find a stunt group, tumble, and learn the tryout material (sideline chant)

Clinic is mandatory and will factory into score for tryouts.

Saturday April 19: (Actual Tryout) from 9 am to 12 pm (May roll over depending on how many tryout) The new team will be posted this day.

First practice from 4-6 (mandatory)

Sunday April 20: Team Brunch  provided by SMU Spirit (time and location to be determined) (not mandatory)

All of Tryouts will be held in the Dedman Center (6000 Airline Dr Dallas, TX 75275)

What to Bring:

Tryout Application

$20 tryout fee

Proof of Admittance to SMU

Copy of insurance card.

What to wear:

Girls- Sports bra and either spandex or shorts,

          hair half up with a bow.

Guys- Clean shaven, t-shirt and shorts
