Personal Trainer Prep Course
Every semester, we offer a 10-week training course that teaches students the knowledge and skills to become personal trainers. Candidates must have experience in resistance training, an interest in exercise science, and a passion for people. Significant out-of-class practice is required. Auditions to become a SMU Personal Trainer may be held at the end of the course, depending on the needs of the SMU Personal Training program at that time. Employment opportunities are contingent on passing the ACSM, NSCA, NASM, ACE, AFAA, or Cooper Institute trainer certification.

| Five Sessions:
Silver Package This package includes a Fitness Orientation, Fitness Assessment Test, and five 1-hour personal training sessions. Cost: $280.00 |
| Ten Sessions: Gold Package This package includes a Fitness Orientation, Fitness Assessment Test, ten 1-hour personal training sessions, and a post-training Fitness Test. Cost: $500.00 |
| Thirty Sessions: Platinum Package This package includes a Fitness Orientation, Fitness Assessment Test, thirty 1-hour personal training sessions, accessibility to Gravity™ Personal Training, and a post-training Fitness Test. Cost: $1,350.00 |
| Pairs Package: Ten Shared Sessions This package includes a Fitness Orientation, Fitness Assessment Testing, 10-Personal Training Sessions, accessibility to Gravity™ Personal Training, and post-training fitness assessment testing for you and another person, together. Your training goals must be similar to make training more efficient. Cost: $270.00 each person |
You will be contacted within 48-hours of signing up for a personal training package, to schedule your complimentary Fitness Assessment Test and Fitness Orientation with a SMU Personal Trainer. Your personal fitness goals will be discussed in the orientation and your body weight, body fat, circumference measurements, muscular endurance, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance will all be tested in the fitness test.
