The Department of Psychology consists of nationally and internationally recognized faculty members with active research programs in a variety of areas of psychological science. Topics of interest include family violence, anxiety disorders, obesity and eating disorders, psychophysiology of respiratory disease, risk assessment, couples’ therapy, stress and memory function, parenting, and family assessment techniques.

The Department of Psychology is also expanding. Over the next 3 years, we plan to add 6 or 7 new faculty members. With our current faculty and projected growth, SMU is going to be a very exciting place to be during the next few years.

The Department of Psychology is housed in SMU’s Dedman College, with faculty members officed in Hyer Hall and Expressway Tower. Psychology is among the most popular undergraduate majors in Dedman College, and the department operates both a Doctoral and Masters program in Clinical Psychology.
