Julie Wiksten, ’78 and ’92, is the proud wife of a United States Army veteran and the grateful daughter of an Air Force veteran. She is honored to be participating in today’s event. This summer, Julie celebrated her 36th year of service to the University.
Julie was recently named the Associate Vice President for Operational Excellence for Project SMU: Operational Excellence for the Second Century (OE2C). Prior to this appointment, she served as the Associate Vice President for Campus Services. This area includes the SMU Bookstore, Dining Services, Parking and ID Card Services, Mail and Copy Central, along with other areas. Two of her favorite claims to fame are introducing food trucks to the SMU campus and the opening of the Arnold Dining Commons!
She serves as co-chair of the Faculty and Staff Committee of the Second Century Campaign Steering Committee. She also is a member of the Centennial University Committee.
Julie is married to Carl Hendin and they have one son who is a professional actor. They all enjoy theater, movies, reading, trying new restaurants and the great outdoors! Julie also enjoys serving as a judge in the Culinary Arts division of the State Fair of Texas.
