Ellen F. Jackofsky, Associate Provost

Dr. Ellen F. Jackofsky is the Associate Provost responsible for faculty and administrative affairs. This includes supervising faculty personnel policies and issues, development of faculty enhancement programs, and supporting the Center for Teaching Excellence. She also serves on various committees and task forces, including the University Committee on Information Technology and the Teaching Technology Group. The office also is involved with other more general university issues, such as academic contributions to the Strategic Plan and Title IX policy and compliance.  In addition, her areas of responsibility include the Central University Library System, the SMU Press, and the Southwest Review.

Dr. Jackofsky is Associate Professor of Management and Organizations at the Edwin L. Cox School of Business. Ellen received her B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and both her M.A. and Ph.D. in Management Science from the University of Texas at Dallas. Her research interests are in the areas of employee turnover and job performance, the job search process, differences in work attitudes and behaviors between and among various groups of employees, and other career related human resource management issues. She has published articles in these areas in Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management International Journal of Conflict Management and, Journal of Occupational Behaviour, among others. She is an active member of the Academy of Management and the American Psychological Association.

Ellen’s current work focuses on the integration of organizational issues related to natural and man-made disasters with related work in the fields of, for example, sociology, risk management, behavioral decision making and civil engineering. She is also involved in other research projects that apply directly to her current position (e.g. the application of information technology throughout the university)
