July 1

011034 12:48 AM: Officers conducted a traffic stop at 6200 Bishop. A check of man driver’s license revealed three outstanding warrants. He was arrested and booked at University Park Jail. Closed.

011035 11:01 AM: A man reported his wallet missing at the Theology Parking Lot. A short later his wallet was found and no property taken. Closed.

011036 12:20 PM: At the Phi Delta Theta House a fire alarm was activated. A dismantled smoke detector was attributed the cause. Closed.

011037 11:23 PM: A trouble fire alarm activated at Bridwell Library. No signs of smoke or fire. No cause determined. Closed.

011038 11:27 PM: The smoke detectors in the attic of Martin Hall were activated due to dust. Smoke detectors were cleaned and alarm system reset. Closed.


July 2

0 11039 10:00 AM: A staff member reported parking a SMU owned vehicle at 3200 University Blvd. When a dump truck traveling east bound on University struck the driver's side rear view mirror. Only minor damage sustained and no injuries reported. Closed.

011040 1:13 AM: Officers responded to a fire alarm activation at Bridwell Library. No signs of smoke or fire present. No cause determined. Closed.

011041 10:41 AM: A man reported his cell phone was missing from Perkins Hall. Value of the loss is $200.00. Closed.


July 4

011042 12:54 AM: At Patterson Hall officers responded to a fire trouble alarm activation. A smoke detector on the second floor was determined the cause. Closed.

011043 10:04 AM: Officers responded to Moody Coliseum to settle a dispute over a minor accident. The two parties involved could not determine who was at fault for accident. A Blue Form was provided to both parties to exchange personal information. Both vehicles were driven from the scene. Closed.

011044 1:25 PM: University Park Fire Dept. responded to 6000 Airline Road on a plastic restroom structure engulfed in flames. A preliminary investigation revealed an ignited roll of toilet paper caused the blaze. No injuries reported. Open.

011045 1:55 PM: At the SMU IN LEGACY facility officers responded to an intrusion alarm activation. No cause determined. Closed


July 5

011046 2:10 PM: At Caruth Hall A staff member reported her purse was stolen from her office. A short time later her wallet was located at Moody Coliseum. Value of the loss was $80.00. Open.

011047 2:18 PM: At Bradfield Computing Center a staff member reported her purse was stolen from her desk drawer. Value of the loss $450.00. Open.

011048 3:00 PM: SMUPD conducted a crime prevention briefing at Hughes Trigg Student Center. Approximately 60 students and parents attended. Closed.

011049 4:22 PM: A student at Fondren Science reported her purse was stolen from a lab. Value of the loss was $60.00. Open

011050 4:59 PM: A staff member reported her purse was stolen from a lab at Fondren Science. Value of the loss $340.00. Open.


July 6

011051 10:54 AM: A staff person reported that his keys were missing from his office in the Heroy Building. Closed.

011052 2:43 PM: At the Beta Theta Pi House officers responded to a fire alarm activation. The dust from drywall installation was attributed for the alarm. Closed.

011053 2:45 PM: Officers responded to a fire alarm activation at the Phi Delta Theta House. No cause determined. Closed.

011054 5:49 PM: An intrusion alarm was activated at the News and Information Building. Officers found authorized personnel inside.

011055 6:00 PM: SMU police conducted a crime prevention briefing at Hughes Trigg Student Center for new students and parents. Closed.


July 7

011056 2:32 AM: At the Phi Delta Theta House a trouble fire alarm was activated. A malfunctioning smoke detector on the third floor was determined the cause. Closed.

011057 1:03 PM: At 3200 University officers were flagged down for assistance with a child experiencing a diabetic reaction. EMS responded and treated the child at the scene. Closed.

011058 4:45 PM: Officers found water leaking from the ceiling at the Phi Delta Theta house. Plant operations personnel notified for repairs. Closed.


July 8

011059 2:05 AM: In the Airline Garage officers found freshly painted graffiti on the fifth level south wall. No suspects. Open.

011060 3:40 AM: At Ford Stadium officers found a gate open with the lock broken off. No trespassers detected. Closed.

011061 3:43 AM: SMU police conducted a traffic stop at Bishop and Binkley intersection. Officers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on the breath of the driver. The driver was identified as a student and charged with Driving Under the Influence by a Minor. He was also charged with being in possession of a fake identification card. Officers released him to a responsible friend. The case is referred to judicial proceeding. Open.

011062 12:20 PM: A man reported his twelve-year-old son was missing from the Barr Pool for nearly two hours. SMU police later found the minor asleep in a storage room. Closed.


J uly 9

011063 07:30 AM: The motion detector alarm was activated at the Bookstore. Officers responded and found authorized personnel inside. No cause determined. Closed.

011064 3:12 PM: SMU Police presented a crime prevention briefing for new students and their parents at the Hughes Trigg Student Center. Closed.

011065 6:39 PM: A student was reported stuck in a elevator at Fondren Library. A short time later the doors open. Elevator technicians notified. Closed.

011066 9:41 PM: University Park Fire Dept. responded to the Lambda Chi House on a reported fire. A fan motor ignited causing the fire. The fire was contained to one room on the third floor. No injuries reported. Closed.


July 10

011067 2:23 AM: Officers found graffiti on the south wall in the Airline garage. Open.

011068 3:57 AM: At Ford Stadium officers conducted security checks due to pending gate repairs. Closed.

011069 3:15 PM: SMU Police conducted a crime prevention briefing at Hughes Trigg Student Center for new students and their parents. Closed.

011070 3:22 PM: A student reported that his vehicle was scratched while parked in the Boaz parking lot. The driver of the other vehicle failed to leave required information. Open.

011071 6:42 PM: At Ford Stadium several gates were found unsecured by officers. The athletic facility staff personnel were notified to secure the gates.


July 11

011072 10:00 AM: SMU Police conducted a fire drill at the SMU-In-Richardson facility. One-minute evacuation time. Closed.

011073 11:30 AM: A staff person reported his backpack was stolen from an unsecured office at Owens Fine Arts Building. A short time later his property was recovered in a 2nd floor restroom. Open.

011074 1:15 PM: At Moody Coliseum a staff reported her wallet was stolen from her desk. Value of the loss $150.00. Open.

011075 6:18 PM: A staff person reported his gym bag was stolen from under his desk. Value of the loss 210.00. Open.

011076 9:25 PM: Two students noticed a large volume of water on the floor at Lab #2. Officers secured the area until plant operations personnel could respond for repairs.


July 12

011077 1:38 AM: Officers responded to a loud noise complaint at 2812 Binkley Ave. The occupants apologized for the music. Closed.

011078 12:09 PM: A staff member at Moody Coliseum reported the theft of speakers from a storage area. No forced entry was observed. Open.

011079 2:00 PM: The Meadows Museum Security director reported someone drew a vulgar picture on the freight elevator door. The drawing was simply scribbled into the dust that had collected on the door. Closed.

011080 3:06 PM: A crime prevention briefing was conducted for AARO participants. Closed.

011081 3:36 PM: A staff member in the BIC reported a disgruntled employee destroyed data on her PC hard drive. Open.


July 13

011082 5:00 PM: The mother of a student reported her daughter's car had been parked in the Airline Parking Garage about two or three months ago and was struck by an unknown person. She wanted a police report for insurance purposes. Closed.

011083 9:56 PM: A staff member reported the smell of smoke in Boaz Hall. UPFD responded. A table lamp had lowered onto a notebook causing it to smolder. Closed.

011084 9:42 PM: An officer observed a man who appeared to be intoxicated inside the Meadows Museum Garage. The man was attempting to tie a neck tie and had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage about his person. He was also having difficulty standing. He was escorted to the museum function he was to attend and turned over to another patron who took responsibility for him. Closed.


July 14

011085 12:17 AM: Officers responded to a 911 call from the Cinco Center. No cause was determined. Closed.

011086 2:59 AM: Officers responded to a loud noise complaint at 2812 Binkley Ave. The occupant agreed to turn his loud music down. Closed.

011087 1:27 PM: Officers investigated a fire alarm at the PIKE House. No cause was determined. Closed.

011088 1:45 PM: An officer checked a fire system trouble alarm at the Alpha Psi Lambda House. Closed.

011089 2:17 PM UP EMS responded to Mary Hay Hall after a student suffered a diabetic seizure. He did not require medical transport. Closed.

011090 10:42 PM: An officer responded to a fire pull station alarm in Peyton Hall. The alarm was a prank. Closed.


July 15

011091 10:56 AM: UPFD responded to the FIJI House after the fire alarm activated. No cause could be determined. Closed.

011092 10:12 AM: The FIJI House Mother reported someone had stolen a refrigerator from the lobby of the house. No forced entry to the house was observed but, a broken vase was found along with several liquor bottles that had been thrown about the floor. Open.

011093 10:50 AM: Officers observed smoke seeping from a hole in the wall inside Moody Coliseum. An officer poured water into the hole. The fire department was not contacted. Closed.

011094 3:02 PM: Officers checked the CENTEX Bldg after receiving an intrusion alarm at the facility. No cause was determined. Closed.

011095 9:13 PM: An officer heard a popping sound coming from the Evening Studies building at 6404 Airline Street. The cause was due to an electrical short in a window air conditioning unit. The building manager was notified. Closed.


July 16

011096 8:55 AM: Officers investigated a fire alarm at the PIKE House. The system was experiencing a malfunction. Closed.

011097 9:48 AM: A non-affiliated man reported someone struck his parked truck and left the accident without leaving information. The truck was parked in the South Quad Lot. Closed.

011098 3:17 PM: An officer conducted a crime prevention briefing for an AARO program. Closed.

011099 3:45 PM: Two men were checked by an officer in Moody Coliseum after they appeared to be acting suspiciously. Both were identified as TIDY employees. Closed.

011100 7:41 PM: An officer responded to a fire system trouble alarm inside the Umphrey Lee Building. Closed.

011101 9:13 PM: UPFD responded to the Kappa Sigma House after a fire alarm was received. A faulty smoke detector was the cause. Closed.

011102 9:34 PM: An officer check a fire system trouble alarm at the Beta House. A faulty smoke detector was the cause. Closed.

011103 9:36 PM: Two individuals opened an alarmed door at the Meadows Museum and activated the intrusion system. A security officer identified the two and escorted them out of the facility. Closed.


July 17

011104 9:01 AM: The UPFD responded to an alarm at the PIKE House. No cause was determined. Closed.

011105 3:14 PM: An officer conducted a crime prevention briefing for AARO participants. Closed.

011106 3:51 PM: Two men were identified after they were observed soliciting people to apply for a credit card. The men attempted to deceive the officer by telling him they were enrolling at SMU. The men were issued criminal trespass warnings and escorted off of University property. Closed.

011107 10:10 PM: An officer responded to Boaz Hall after someone broke off the Stopper Two cover on a fire alarm pull station. The cover was replaced. Closed.


July 18

011108 3:41 PM: Workmen in the OFAC accidentally set off the fire alarm in the old Meadows Gallery. Closed.

011109 11:08 PM: The father of a TAG student reported a calculator, meal card and keys belonging to his son had been stolen sometime on the 14th of July. Closed.


July 19

011110 3:05 PM: The Meadows Museum reported a juvenile, attending an event, was injured slightly when a television set fell on his foot. He did not require EMS response. Closed.

011111 4:15 PM: An officer transported a staff member from the Cox Business School to the Health Center after he experienced mild dizziness. Closed.


July 20

011112 11:12 AM: A Residence Life Student Housing staff member reported the theft of a television from Virginia Hall. Closed.

011113 11:24 AM: A Cheer Camp staff advisor reported about $100 in Cheer Camp property had been removed from Moody Coliseum. The items had been stored under a table the night before. Closed.

011114 2:57 PM: A student reported the theft of his bicycle from a rack near McGinnis Hall. Open.

011115 3:12 PM: An officer conducted a crime prevention briefing for AARO participants. Closed.

011117 7:26 PM: Officers responded to a fire alarm at McGinnis Hall. No cause was determined. Closed.

011118 8:09 PM: An officer investigated a fire system trouble alarm at the Beta House. Management was notified. Closed.


July 21

011119 2:29 AM: An officer found a student laying on the floor outside of her room in Virginia Hall. She told the officer she locked herself out of the room. The on-duty RA was contacted, however, he did not respond. A spare key was located at the McElvaney Front Desk and the girl was allowed entry to her room. Closed.

011120 8:46 AM: Three Cheer Camp participants reported the theft of personal items and cash from their belongs. Cheer Camp staff apparently located a suspect who was removed from the camp. The suspect's name was not disclosed to police. Closed.

011121 10:59 AM: A Cheer Camp participant injured herself while performing a stunt. She was transported to Presbyterian Hospital by EMS. Closed.

011122 1:29 PM: A student tripped on the front steps of Moore Hall and twisted her ankle. She did not require medical transport. Closed.

011123 1:51 PM: A Cheer Camp participant injured herself while performing a stunt. She was transported to Presbyterian Hospital by EMS. Closed.


July 22

011124 12:37 AM: An officer checked a suspicious acting man in the area of the Hughes Trigg Student Center. The man has been identified by officers before. Closed.

011125 6:30 PM: A staff member in the OFAC reported someone had opened a copy toner cassette and thrown it about a classroom. Damage was minor. Closed.

011126 7:10 PM: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was being driven at high speed along Bishop Blvd. The driver and passenger are both non-affiliated juveniles. They were found to be in possession of tobacco products. The driver also had a fictitious driver license. All contraband items were seized. The parent of the passenger was notified. Closed.

011127 10:03 PM: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven at high speed along Bishop Blvd. The driver was found to be in possession of marijuana and smoking paraphernalia. He was also wanted by the Dallas County Sheriff's Office for "Failure to Appear". The man was arrested and booked into the U.P. Jail. He was also issued a citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Closed.


July 23

011128 12:30 AM: While conducting a check of the Memorial Health Center, an officer heard the service bell ringing inside the building. He attempted to silence the bell without success. It was left ringing and the building was secured. Closed.

011129 12:35 AM: An officer checked a fire system trouble alarm at the OFAC. No cause was determined. Closed.

011130 7:06 AM: A man became ill at the Umphrey Lee Center. He was examined and later transported to the hospital by U.P. EMS. Closed.

011131 3:05 PM: An officer conducted a crime prevention briefing for AARO participants. Closed.

011132 3:42 PM: The Airline Parking Garage elevator stalled. Elevator maintenance was notified. Closed.


July 24

011133 12:10 AM: An officer encountered several under aged individuals drinking beer outside the residence at 2988 Binkley Ave. The occupant was not home however, his non-affiliated girlfriend was hosting the party. The violators were issued citations for Minor In Possession. Closed.

011134 7:28 AM: A staff member in the Crow Building, reported the theft of a AM/FM/CD stereo from her desk. It was last seen the afternoon before. Open.

011135 3:10 PM: An officer conducted a crime prevention briefing for AARO participants. Closed.

011136 6:05 PM: An officer responded to an intrusion alarm at the old SMU Bookstore in Umphrey Lee. The front door was found unlocked. A search yielded negative results. Personnel were called to secure the door. Closed.

011137 8:11 PM: An officer checked a fire system trouble alarm at the Beta House. Maintenance was notified. Closed.


July 25

011138 1:18 AM: An officer found the SMU Bookstore front door unlocked while conducting a security check. Closed.

011139 3:15 AM: EMS was called to Clements Hall after a faculty member suffered chest pains. He was transported to Presbyterian Hospital. Closed.

011140 6:28 AM: A faculty member was robbed at gunpoint while walking near the intersection of Rosedale St and Airline Road. The suspect fled after taking the victim's wallet. Open.

011141 3:53 PM: Three juvenile males were identified after they were observed skateboarding in the area northwest of the Maguire Building. Closed.

011142 4:12 PM: A staff member reported being involved in a minor vehicle accident in the G Lot. Closed.


July 26

011143 2:16 AM: Officers checked a fire alarm at McElvaney Hall. A system fault caused the activation. Closed.

011144 2:04 AM: An officer responded to a complaint that a man was creating a disturbance in front of Mary Hay Hall. Contact was made with a student who had been drinking. A cigarette butt container was observed to be broken nearby and laying on the ground. The student attempted to run from the officer initially, but was caught and restrained. He told the officer he has been convicted of drug related offenses and was frightened. The student was released after information was obtained about him. He was instructed to return to his room and remain there until morning. He will be referred to the Judicial Officer for Public Intoxication. Closed.

011145 8:24 AM: Officers responded to the Panhellenic House at 3109 Daniel Ave after a duress alarm was received at the police department. A resident had entered the house and failed to reset the alarm code. Closed.

011146 12:42 PM: A contractor reported someone broke into a lock box and removed assorted tools. The box was inside Moody Coliseum. Open.

011147 3:42 PM: An officer conducted a crime prevention briefing for AARO participants. Closed.

011148 5:00 PM: An officer investigated a minor vehicle accident in the Highland Park Church Lot. Closed.

011149 6:32 PM: A patron at The Gates restaurant began to choke. U.P. EMS was called. However, the patron was able to clear her own airway prior to EMS arrival. Closed.


July 27

011150 3:49 AM: Officers checked an intrusion alarm at the Perkins Administration Building. No cause was determined. Closed.

011151 3:05 PM: An officer conducted a crime prevention briefing for AARO participants. Closed.

011152 11:01 PM: An officer took a complaint report from a woman who feeds the feral cats on campus. A water bowl was missing from a feeding station. Closed.

011153 11:25 PM: An officer investigated a minor vehicle accident in the West Quad Lot. Closed.


July 28

011154 2:32 AM: The SW door of the SMU Bookstore was found unsecured. The manager was notified. Closed.

011155 6:06 AM: A concerned parent contacted SMU PD with a request for assistance in locating her daughter who is a student studying abroad. Appropriate staff in Student Affairs were notified. Closed.

011156 12:53 PM: A staff member reported the theft of her cellular telephone from her unlocked office in Caruth Hall. Closed.

011157 1:18 PM: An officer responded to the Heroy Science Building to assist with releasing a man who go stuck in the elevator after it stalled. Closed.

011158 8:09 PM: An officer checked the fire alarm system at the Beta House after it indicated a "Trouble Status". Closed.


July 29

011159 6:35 PM: A staff member reported the theft of cash from a locked file cabinet in an office located at the Perkins Natatorium. No indication of forced entry was observed by the investigating officer. Open.

011160 11:35 PM: An officer heard and investigated a loud noise around the West Quad Lot . It may have been fireworks being ignited. Closed.


July 30

011161 12:18 PM: A faulty light fixture ballast activated the fire alarm system inside the Fincher Building. Closed.

011162 3:16 PM: An officer conducted a crime prevention briefing for AARO participants. Closed.

011163 3:30 PM: An officer conducted training for RLSH staff. Closed.

011164 6:49 PM: A student reported he had been bitten by an unknown insect and was experiencing swelling on his right arm. EMS responded and checked him. He did not require medical transport. Closed.

011165 7:05 PM: U.P.F.D. responded to the Beta House after the fire alarm activated. The cause was due to a smoke detector being wrapped in tape and covered in paint. Maintenance was notified. Closed.

011166 9:57 PM: EMS was called to the courtyard area in front of Moody Coliseum after a woman fainted. She indicated she was hot and had not slept well. She did not require medical transport. Closed.


July 31

011167 12:11 AM: U.P. EMS was called to Shuttles Hall after a Cheer Camp participant suffered an asthma attack. She didn't require medical transport. Closed.

011168 11:11 AM: A Cheer Camp participant fell and injured herself in the Dedman Center. She was transported to Presbyterian Hospital by EMS. Closed.
